I think I figured it out watching a Facebook video about abortion just now on Facebook. I have always been confused about one aspect of the Democratic political system Canada and the US A have chosen. Democracy only works because of the theatre that each side will make changes about half of the country wants and half the country doesn’t want, with the hope and understanding they can flip flop back and fourth every few years. Most of us grow up living through a number of political swaps.
I’ve always been confused by how it’s possible our nation’s are so close to 50% but I accepted that this was carefully planned as part of the structure to keep some degree of interest and give us the illusion of choice and control. If too many people are favouring one party, things break down.
The idea of gerrymandering is not to give one party an edge to win, but more likely to balance out the vote to make the vote more even. Elections have to be close in order for anyone to care. If you’re entire life is ruled by one party then nobody bothers to vote at all and the system fails.
Until someone gets the idea that’s what they want. They don’t want the other side to have their turn at the wheel. They want to stay in power. The threshold of power and greed and wealth has been crossed and the money is so vast that they brake the game and keep the ball.
Politics are no longer the reason for politics. The will of the people and their needs are no longer relevant. The game is to win, and win as much as you can. Keep winning to the point where the citizens no longer care about anything because they’re on the team that wins at any cost, and that is a new and addictive feeling even at the cost of everything previously important.
Teams that win are seldom teams. They are a winner or two that include the losers in the team because numbers are how you win. Ignorant masses you collect and appease so the vote always goes to you.
Abortion. Nobody in their right mind should really care less about what strangers do with their bodies. It became an issue decades ago on a list of things that could be successful to promote good vs evil but really it also serves the purpose of increasing the population of lower class citizens and unsuccessful families that are susceptible to mindset manipulation.
It isn’t about saving the unborn child’s life. It’s about gaining more people on your side of the scale, insuring each generation will have more people on your side of the scale. Long term scale tipping so the other side isn’t close. There is no tension or mystery. Your side wins for your entire life. The flip flopping government that hit things done isn’t getting anything the party in Npower wants, and their winners are happy.
