Phoneless, not by choice
A blog entry on a Monday that replaces the video blog of my farm chores I usually would have created. My programming project and my need for praise.

Phoneless, not by choice

Today was only the third day I have left the house down to do the chores on the farm without my phone. I don’t remember the first time but I do remember it happening once and the second and third times were this week.

I’ve added whole new series of chores taking care of the dogs as well as the chickens and horses so there’s quite a bit of activity in the back garage before I leave and twice now I’ve left my phone sitting in there. I usually realize it on the walk down the first hill but I have a mindset to not go back and I stick to that even when there’s no logical reason. I suspect it’s partly my OCD that keeps me from breaking my own silly rules.

So I proceed on the list of chores hoping that nothing too significant happens that I will feel bad about missing on video. Given the fact that 99 days out of 100 nothing significant happens that I couldn’t afford to miss putting on video but it is the winter and the possibility of a great fall is higher.

It just adds another layer of useless anxiety that my brain works up as a distraction too life. As it turned out, nothing exciting or particularly unusual happened so I got away without the footage to remember it by. Smile comes across my face as I think to myself how wonderful it would be if YouTube commented how come no video today? As if people watched or cared. I won’t hold my breath waiting for that.

Most of my focus has shifted from making daily farm videos to my programming hobby which I am quite enjoying. I particularly like the arguments I have with AI and the way that it handles memory and duties. It’s been quite a challenge figuring out the workings of this technical employee. It has similarities and distinct differences from the way I have worked with humans previously. Advantages and disadvantages of course but primarily the big plus is that they are available on my schedule and I don’t necessarily have to feel guilty about constant changes.

I do feel guilty of course but that’s my problem and I’m learning to deal with it as well. I am truly enjoying the projects I’m working on and I try not to think about the point in time in the future when I will lose interest and they will become another in a list of failed enterprises or business ideas.

I sincerely believe that the tool kit I am working on or suite of tools as I prefer to refer to it does have potential and with the help of AI both can development and marketing and distribution might just get me praised. It probably seems foreign to many of my readers that the praise is the prize and I really don’t care whether it brings me any financial benefit or success. I live a life of poverty and yet still, financial gain has never been a motive. That’s an odd thing for many to comprehend. I believe the norm that society has created is that the richest wins.

Society is currently demonstrating to the public that the richest among us are actually not the best among us and are kind of assholes if you look at the big picture. The moment financial gain becomes your priority humankind isn’t and that’s somewhat scary but not new.

I will contest that many rich people contribute to society and give back a portion of their wealth to do good however I secretly suspect none of them would unless they saw benefits personally. Giving to charity is something people do to look good but I’m pretty sure they hate giving away anything that takes away.

My whole life I have found joy in giving things away. I almost never sell used stuff around my house but instead give it away either to a donation box somewhere or friends and people who need it. I have always shared my wealth even when my wealth could hardly pay my bills.

Occasionally doing so has made me feel a little bit like a schmuck but not usually. My intention for these tools is to make them publicly available to incorporate into other tools or just to people who can’t afford to pay for the software that does it better. I feel some of these tools will help greatly because the reason I’m writing them is because they were hard to find or they were involved as one command in a big huge program that took a long time to load just to split a file into or extract the audio from a video.

They are #proudworthy
