It continuously amazes me how some smart people assume I’m wrong without any reason, especially when it’s obvious I’m not. There are many ways I refer to when I say obvious including things I’ve previously done, or things I’ve based my career on. I can be standing on the correct answer and they still think I’m wrong.
I used to second guess myself more. I’m willing to accept I might be wrong about some things. I like to be wrong and learn new things. If I’m wrong, I welcome the opportunity to learn.
It used to frustrate me more to be smart and ignored. When I’m clearly right and the person doesn’t even leave room for being wrong. Instead of “I don’t think so”, they just affirm they are correct. The word maybe never gets spoken.
I currently live with one of these people and although I don’t deny she is smart, this unwillingness to be incorrect about anything has become almost numerous. I learned to not try, and find entertainment in the answer showing itself later. I know there will be no apology or recognition of the fact. I don’t flaunt it. There would be no point.
I no longer argue the point. I just say ok and pretend to agree. No fighting. No bragging, but I do keep score.
I winin silence.
