I finally felt a little better today. We turned on the air conditioner, and that made a world of difference because it was just so hot that my shirt would be ring-ably moist. Feeling motivated to work was just not happening.
I’m still a little bit down that I don’t have a good computer, but I’m managing with the 4 GB Chrome OS Flex machine. RAM probably isn’t going to cost that much, but today I spent my spending budget at the Dollar Tree. I got most of the things on my list, including four boxes of chocolate shortbread cookies that I tend to eat all at once.
I’ve got some more t-shirts and that’s always good. You have to be able to swap out for a new one when it’s so hot and humid outside. The end of the world it’s over for now and hopefully I can even get back in the better graces with a customer I’ve been wearing again.
It helped because I got my first visit from one of the people from my original life here. I’ve been thinking about how many people and what I used to do when I lived here that felt different because I didn’t seem to be alone. I had my fajita night parties once a month and conventions. Neither of these I’ve been able to do for the past seven years, so when I got back, there was no one here and nothing to do. I felt like I was better off in British Columbia, even though I know that’s not true.
Having Daniel come and drive me around and get some things done and talk to him and eat Harvey’s for the first time in six years, it felt like life is more normal again. I really enjoyed driving around with him and just seeing the sights and the scenery that I’ve missed, because there’s no city quite like Toronto. Most cities have one or two main urban areas and a main street, but Toronto is almost all main streets and trees, two things you seldom get together.
It was fun because I remembered all the areas we were going to and all the stores. I just realized now we forgot to go to the Peak Freeze factory outlet, but that gives us something to do next time. It feels more like regular life today, and that’s good.
