Sometimes when I’m commenting on other people’s posts or blogging my own thoughts, I say something or type something that make makes me pause and appreciate. The sort of thing that, if it were written by a speechwriter and spoken by someone famous could possibly be significant enough to become what we refer to as quotes. I’ve always had a little bit of and obsession over quotes and quotations because for the most part you have to already be famous for something you say to become a quote. I suspect strongly that very few books of famous quotations include things that John the Barber said or that construction worker who had a profound moment and that’s kind of sad because lots of people say profound things regularly. Things that could be embroidered on a cloth and hung On a wall or made into a poster with a cute animal. These days a lot of these quotes are written in some nice font on a JPEG and shared through Facebook but even though for the most part Will be reused quotations from people known for saying wise things.
I often use my own quotations as if they were recognizable and I feel an inner obligation which I usually suppress to educate the listener that that’s my quote and I’m proud of it. In my last blog post this morning I ended off with one of the things I often say, but then I followed up with three more in sequence and thought to myself these are kind of like daily affirmations. I’ve never really been a fan of daily affirmations and have even mocked them to some extent but in reflection I do have a number of quotes or mottos that are a part of my world philosophy. I say them often so I decided to write a blog post mentioning my favorites.
Everything happens in the moment of now. It’s important to realize that after it has happened, we can’t change it. It becomes a part of our story.
I’m big into the whole concept of our life being a story we get to tell, and that is a superpower not many are aware of, or use to it’s full potential. The power of the story can be used for good or evil and the sooner we realize that we get to tell our own story the more power that gives us.
Everything in our universe is either the story we are told or the story we tell.
It is pointless to fear the past.
Accept and adapt. This is a phrase I use almost every day and I would say the key to my happiness. It says do much about how I live my life always in a forward direction. I don’t look back. I don’t go back. I don’t complain (much). I don’t get angry. I accept and adapt. My energy is positioned to help me accept and adapt. I try not to blame. I understand.
Everything I do in life is done with overall goals to avoid being yelled at. I try my best to not be a burden or an annoyance. That isn’t always how it turns out but it is always how it starts. Good intentions.
Don’t annoy.
I try to not be in the way. To be there when needed.
I support rather than instigate.
I don’t ask, but love to answer.
My need to be liked in strong because I am motivated by your satisfaction and praise more than money. I share more than I should or can afford because the greatest reward is your smile.
The opposite is true. Criticism of anything cuts me deep. I can remain affected by disappointment for hours, weeks or years of I fail to make you happy.
If you yell, I may run away.
Accept and adapt has its limits.
It’s 8am. Time to feed the chickens.
