I wanted people to know. Cows and chickens frequently live together on farms all over. It’s not by choice. Chickens make horrible neighbours. That squawk they make travels right into your bones. You can’t predict it. It’s very disruptive. For years, we’ve been at war with them. Especially the roosters. I don’t need to be told it’s the morning. I like to sleep in. The roosters like to announce everything to the whole farm. Nobody cares. Get over yourself you cocky roosters. They’ve got 6 roosters on this farm in various locations for some reason. When one starts crowing away they all join in.
Now, I know our moos can be a bit loud at times, but they all mean something. We moo with a purpose but it’s not the kind of sound that breaks your brain.

So me and some of the other cows have started pranking the hens. Personally, I love telling them what happens when one of them gets taken away by the farmer. Poor birds had no idea they were on the menu. I told them there is a better farm across the road where they go to live with a young family. A better life.

So I guess that makes me the reason they crossed the road.
