I think it’s Wednesday. I’m pretty sure. It’s the last day or two of my stash before I start scrounging but there won’t be as much scrounging this month. I woke up and I ate a whole bunch of chocolate chips and I felt awake so I decided I’ll give it a try to not have any of that smoke today. After the second pipe I realized oops. I screwed that up but I stopped.
I did a little bit of work less than usual and then went out to feed the chickens and check on the horses make some videos. I came back in after having a good conversation with one of the AI chatbots that I could possibly turn into a video and started working on my current project which is the bookmark favorites manager that I really like and I’m quite proud of.
The funny thing about it is I worked on it the last two days mostly trying to get the AI to fix some of the bugs that it created and continuously reverting to the previous version so that I felt I wasn’t accomplishing any forward momentum.
Then I had an idea which really only ever occurred to me on this project despite the history that I have with the concept. When I used to program in commodore basic way back before any real programming was invented or at least popularized, I would frequently write programs and then before sharing them erase them and start over because the concept of the program often changed dramatically from start to finish and rewriting it made it better.
Since AI is now doing the programming for me I kind of forgot about that process but yesterday it occurred to me that I’d spent way too much time erasing the AI’s mistakes and I loaded up a new programming assistant and said this is what I want you to make and described the point that we had gotten to in the trial and error of the previous attempts in just enough detail and 45 seconds later the program was on the screen in front of me almost perfect.
That is a lesson I will use in the future although this particular tool is $20 a month and I don’t think I can justify that right now so I’ll see whether any of the other tools that I use included in my existing plans can do the job as well but in my experience they can’t. However there still are 400 other programs out there trying to convince me they can. Even if I use the free trial for one program a week I may redo all my tools. We’ll see
Last night I didn’t let the cat in the bedroom and she didn’t complain. She’s been in here the last five nights ever since we took her best friend half sister away. Not really bad sister but a little baby cat that just didn’t fit into our home the way we had hoped. We found her a new family that loves her much more but the cat misses her so I’ve been extra affectionate and learning some of the joys that other people have experienced with their cats but I have never had that kind of relationship with the cat before.
Her personality is coming out and it’s fun for me too watch and analyze and try to think like a cat. It is clear that she is my protector and the way that she monitors the room when she is lying on my side or on my stomach carefully watching it no predators are coming to attack me and at the same time sadly beginning to realize that the little cat that wants annoyed her and then she became used to is also not showing up.
I’m sure she will still watch out for her with hope at least for a little while yet. Kind of makes me sad.
I’m going to start asking some cat people questions about their cats but i solemnly swear not to become a cat person online. Of course I suspect that’s what all cat people say in the beginning and then the cat sits on their stomach for a few weeks and they start talking to it like I have and then it’s too late.
If that time comes I will accept and adapt as I do for most change in life.
I took a break from the computer programming to lay on the bed and let the cat have its snuggles keeping a strict and regular routine and time limit so that I can at least feel like I’m in control but she does meow quite a bit and demand affection more than ever. It’s good for me to get out of the chair several times a day so I’m using the catches that excuse and we both benefit.
If she starts clawing me I may have to change the rules. One of the things I’m going to ask other cat people is what level of trust I should give the cat when she puts her front paws against my neck in precisely the correct position that if she were to decide at any moment that she was no longer happy with the position, a claw and a scratch could render me dead in a matter of moments I suspect. I don’t know how long it takes for a neck scratch that bleeds to bleed enough.
I think about that every time she does it. Does she know that’s the kill position? I prefer to refer to it as the trust position.
